Women’s Art Association of Canada presents
the 5th Annual Uptown Pride Art Exhibition
Jun 11-Jul 07/26
23 Prince Arthur Avenue, Toronto
As a new member of the Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) I am honoured to be juried into this annual group exhibition celebrating and uplifting the 2SLGBTQI+ community through art, storytelling, and shared experience.
Presented at the Dignam Gallery as part of Pride Toronto 2026’s Affiliate Event programming, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of artists whose works explore identity, visibility, love, memory, resilience, joy, and community through a wide variety of mediums and perspectives.
Guided by Pride Toronto’s vision, “to create a world in which all people feel safer, valued, celebrated, and included, regardless of how they identify or who they love,” the exhibition highlights the power of artistic expression as a means of connection, reflection, and advocacy, while reflecting WAAC’s continued commitment to fostering accessible opportunities for artists and creating a welcoming space for community engagement and celebration.
See art, ‘Birth of an Inner Warrior’ This piece looks at how an individual may discover strength while focusing on a deeply personal, solo journey. It starts in a place of confusion and uncertainty, but then cuts through to a sharp clarity. Ultimately, the painting captures that quiet transformation, where navigating life's trials rewires you into your own inner warrior.

fRIENDSHIP tHROUGH cULTURE EXHIBITION
The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre is hosting this exhibition which explores the evolving meanings of a phrase that has long shaped Japanese Canadian cultural life. What first emerged as a gentle expression of survival and resilience in the face of discrimination has shifted over time into an open, if complex, practice of belonging. Today, “friendship through culture” carries multiple potential interpretations - diasporic, generational, newly arrived, hybrid - and asks us how culture can both preserve memory and create new ways of living together.
OPENING RECEPTION ON MARCH 1ST. WATCH FOR DETAILS.
Join me at the opening reception on Saturday November 1st between 4:30pm-7pm as we celebrate Canada’s forests.
I have created 9 new pieces of art for this exhibition for The Donna Child Fine Art Gallery. Come see how I have expressed forests as not merely gatherings of trees, but living presences that hold the quiet wisdom of the earth, offering sanctuary and inviting us to pause, listen, and see with more than our eyes.

Laura Beaton was honoured to be presented with a Certificate of Elected Membership to the Society of Canadian Artists by Manny Shulz, President, and Nancy Overbury, Vice President.
It was an exciting day to be presented with this honour while sitting in the very place where members of the Group of Seven met nearly 100 years ago. The Arts and Letters Club is such a beautiful building. If only the walls could talk….
