Laura is an award winning Visual Fine Artist who was born in Toronto; she moved to Mississauga over 30 years ago. Laura was always involved in artistic pursuits that included opening a faux finishing (special effects) wall painting business. A health issue led her to the pursuit and pure joy of acrylics and Chinese Brush Painting.
Laura studied Asian art under Master Artists Baoxing ZHANG, William HO and Hiroshi YAMAMOTO. She has studied acrylics under Halina Wyluda-Kazmierczak, Mila Duric and Mark Cope.
Laura’s pieces are two-dimensional works on rice paper marrying ancient painting techniques and those of her own creation using traditional inks or acrylics on canvas and panels.
Her works span cultures; they are in private and permanent collections in China, the United States, and Canada. By invitation of the Chinese government, Laura exhibited 20 works of art alongside Master Artists including Xuefeng DONG, Ling Wang YAN, Shuhua CONG and Mingyan DOING. Her works are studied in China by university art students.
Prior to embarking on her career as an artist, Laura taught business courses, opened her own business and co-founded a consultancy business in 1996. She has frequently volunteered her time to coach artists relative to the business of art. When Laura was a teenager, she taught organ music.
Laura has been exhibiting in solo, collaborative, and group exhibitions for almost a decade.
In 2017 Laura was the Marty’s winner for Established Visual Fine Artist, awarded by the Mississauga Arts Council.
